Beekeeping in Scandinavia
Scandinavian beekeeping consists of a total of approximately 300.000 bee colonies. The 28.000 beekeepers represent a very big diversity of beekeeping. Several hundreds of the Scandinavian beekeepers are full-time professional beekeepers, the majority do beekeeping part-time, and the remainder have small private apiaries.
There is a significant diversity among the Scandinavian beekeepers. Women and men, young and old. From older experienced beekeepers to young innovative beekeepers. Beekeepers who work full time with a large professional operation. Smaller beekeepers with specialized products. Beekeepers in the cities and beekeepers in the countryside. Beekeepers involved in exciting projects where the bees play an exciting role. And actually, Scandinavia has the most northern placed apiary in the world!
